Eyres appeal fails

Athletic’s appeal to have the red card rescinded for David Eyres has failed. Supporting the Latics case, Mansfield's Craig Disley and coach Paul Holland reported that the incident had merely been "a tangle of legs" but the referee Paul Taylor is standing by his decision.

Taylor's view was that it was a deliberate foul with the intent to kick another player which means that the three match ban will now stand. Eyres will now miss Saturdays visit of QPR and the trips to Luton Town and Northampton Town.
