Eyresy Set to Sign Contract

Eyresy has agreed a deal which will keep him at Latics until the end of the season. The news was announced this morning but he agreed the deal yesterday evening. Brian Talbot was delighted to retain the services of David saying, “It’s amazing how well he does for his age, I know it’s something that’s always mentioned but I think at 40 years, you have to take that into consideration. Hopefully he can play competitively for another season and I’m looking forward to seeing him perform.”

Danny Hall has agreed his current deal for an extra season ending in the summer of 2006. Danny had been given an extention on his contract a few weeks ago for the next season but he is seen a major part of the future by the management and was offered a new contract for 2 years which Danny signed yesterday.

Mark Bonner agreed to sign a 2 year contract at Oldham and the deal was completed after Mark completed a medical today. Brian Talbot said, “Mark did well for us last season and I am pleased he has signed to stay for longer. His signing will compensate for Darren Sheridan having been released and in some way Paul Murray also.”

Brian Talbot also spoke today about his plans for the summer in terms of contracts and signings. He commented that he is confident Jermaine Johnson will sign his contract by the end of the week but he has yet to here from Will Haining. Although later in the Chronicle Will has said he wants to stay at the club and will be in for a meeting on Tuesday. As for players he wants to bring in Brian made no secret of the fact that he wanted Rodney Jack, he has been offered a one year deal and there were a few loose ends to tie up. He also wants a backup goalkeeper for Pogliacomi, a central defender and a big striker.

Also today Telford United FC went into Liquidation and have been demoted from the Conference and bottom club Northwich Victoria get a reprieve from relegation. Telford are planning to launch a new club as soon as possible but it’s not known where they will start.

So far Oldham have sold over 2,100 season tickets for next season. The deadline for season ticket discounts is the 3rd June.
