Northern Ireland international striker Warren Feeney has signed for Athletic on a two year deal. The 29 year old was at Boundary Park on Monday night to witness the 2-1 loss to Burnley. He began his career at Leeds but he rose to prominence as a striker as he made his breakthrough at Bournemouth. He has since played for Stockport, Luton and Cardiff City. Feeney is excited to be joing the Latics and has turned down offers from other clubs to join Paul Dickov's new team. Feeney said, "I have spoken to other clubs, but after I talked to Paul and Gerry Taggart, there was only one winner. I want to play my football here. I just want to play games and enjoy my football again. I met the lads this morning and trained with the Latics squad and I thought. Yes this is the club for me.”

Dickov commented, “Warren is someone we like and are interested in, but we could also say the same about several other players. I am not going to lie and we have spoken to Warren and he is keen to come, but we are up against competition from other clubs. He has a good pedigree having won 35 caps and there will be other clubs in for him."
