Fergie to swoop for Richards?

The People have reported that Sir Alex Ferguson is set to take advantage of the growing financial turmoil at Manchester City with a £19 million swoop for Micah Richards. Richards has privately admitted that he'd relish a move to Old Trafford.

Former chairman John Wardle resigned from the City board last month and it's understood he used his personal fortune recently to pay wages and bridge a cashflow problem ahead of forthcoming regulation payments from the Premier League. It adds up to a worrying picture for new boss Mark Hughes and Fergie plans to maximise the situation with a move for Richards.

If Richards does move it will bring a remarkable cash windfall to Athletic as they have a 25% sell-on clause which was written in when City took him from Oldham.
