Finally ... a home win

The Latics finally won a home league game after going 13 matches without one. It was done in classic style in a 'second from bottom' versus 'second from top clash.' Aftger going 1-0 down in the first half, second-half goals from Timothee Dieng and Jonathan Forte showed that the Latics are up for the fight to avoid relegation.

Manager John Sheridan commented, “I am sure the players think about it, but I don’t bring it up. I just tell them to carry on the way we have been playing. It is only the second home game since I have been here and I feel we should have won the Bury game. But I am chuffed for the players. I like players being brave and we were. It was a show of character against a strong team. I was really pleased with the way they went about the game.”

“It’s a reason I came back. I believe I can keep us in the division.”

Tomorrow the Latics travel to Peterborough to try to make it five games undefeated.
