Financial budget reduced for 2006/07

Ronnie Moore's financial budget for the 2006/07 season has seen a “substantial reduction” although he will still have “sizeable” funds available for his second attempt at promotion from League One. The decision for the reduced budget is based on the drop in expected gates at Boundary Park last season and the confines of a 60% salary cap.

Alan Hardy (pictured) said, “The salary cap has been brought in to prevent a situation like the one we found ourselves in a couple of years ago. We have to produce a team which will bring in fans on a budget within the limits. Sadly, the smaller attendances in the season just ended means a lower wage bill for 2006/07. Some people say you must speculate to accumulate, but we cannot do that.”
