Former Latics winger Colin Whitaker has died at the age of 82. Whitaker joined Oldham in 1962 after a swap deal with local rivals Rochdale for another winger, Peter Phoenix.

Whittaker went on to make 72 appearances and scored 29 goals. He began his career with Sheffield Wednesday and also played for Bradford Park Avenue, Queens Park Rangers, Shrewsbury Town and Barrow.

He was a popular character and will be fondly remembered.
