Four shown the door

Four of Athletics players whose contracts expire this summer have been told that they will be released. Carlo Corazzin, David Miskelly, Wayne Gill and Duncan Roberts have all been given the word.

Corazzin (pictured), a Canadian International, joined Oldham in 2000 and made 94 appearances scoring 22 goals in the process. Miskelly is a former Northern Ireland Under 21 goalkeeper who worked his way up through the ranks without really establishing himself. He made a total of 22 first team appearances. Gill was signed from Tranmere in 2001 but the £70,000 signing only made three starts. Roberts never made a first team appearance. He was signed as keeper cover towards the end of the season, a deal which reportedly caused Alan Hardy’s suspension of duties at Boundary Park.

Other news is that David Eyres, Wayne Andrews, Will Haining, Les Pogliacomi and Chris Armstrong have been offered new terms and Lee Duxbury is expected to join the coaching staff. Darren Sheridan, John Eyre, Tony Carss and Julien Baudet are all expected to open discussions with the possibility of remaining at Boundary Park. Injury plagued Clyde Wijnhard will have his troubled knee operated on and a decision on his future will be deferred pending
the outcome of his surgery.
