The young goalkeeper has been out for 6 months with the injury, which happened whilst he made a routine save in training.

Although the wound has not healed, Chris was advised that he was not up for the rigours of professional football and should therefore call his professional career to a sad end before it had really begun.

Grange was officially in his fouth year as a trainee at Boundary Park, but Oldham gave him a year off to allow him to recover from his injury.

Although the 19-year old never played for Oldham, he was an unused substitute several tiomes last season.

Best of luck in the future Chris.
