Grant aims for number one spot

New goalkeeper Lee Grant, who made his debut in the 0-1 home defeat by Port Vale, spoke of establishing himself as Athletic's number one keeper. The 23 year old has signed a loan deal from Derby County until the end of the season, although a clause means that he may be recalled at 24 hours notice.

Grant said, "I have come here to aim for the top, otherwise I would be lying. I am looking to play games, to push on and help with the promotion charge. I have been on the bench or lingering in the reserves at Derby and it has been very hard. Hopefully, the move here will be ideal for me. I will get some games and be in the shop window. And do enough to impress the players and staff and take it from there. The way things are I would consider anything at the minute. I am in a position where things have stalled for me of late. If I can impress, we will see what happens. I played a couple of seasons on the trot at Derby then got an injury in pre-season and left out. I felt a bit hard done by not getting a chance but this move will give me the push I need."
