Gregan to stay?

Athletic are hoping to persuade Sean Gregan to remain at Boundary Park when his loan deal expires at the end of December. Boss John Sheridan is hoping that the influential Gregan will not be tempted by other offers during the upcoming the transfer window. The club paid off Chris Swailes this week and it is hoped that the wages saved might be enough to tempt Gregan to stay.

Sheridan said, “I pulled Sean the other day and told him I wanted to keep him. He has only been here for a short time but the lads look up to him and he has that aura around the club. There were will be a lot of clubs after him, so it's important to sort something out quickly, if that's possible. Sean will have a few things to sort out with Leeds and we'll have to see what happens, but I would like him to stay here.”

“I will be trying my best to hold on to our young players, but I also want to bring one or two people in. I've got a couple of players in mind because we need to strengthen the squad and be ready for the important times coming up. I would like to bring in a striker, that isn't to say I want to replace Chris Porter, Paul Warne or Chris Hall, but we need that cover. I was at the Scunthorpe and Blackpool game last week, and if you look at Blackpool's squad they've got four or five solid strikers."
