Gregs to stay?

It looks like Sean Gregan will still be part of Athletic's plans for next season. He's had an up and down season, both on and off the field, and some supporters have indicated that they would like to see him move on but new boss Joe Royle has different ideas and thinks that he should remain at Boundary Park. A man of the match award against Peretborough United on Saturday, combined with being names player of the month for March could back up Royle's opinion.

Royle said, "In the four games since I have been back, Sean Gregan has been the best player in each of them. No matter what happens with myself at the end of the season, I shall be recommending to the chairman that we should give him at least another year's contract. He is in the right place at the right time as he has been in excellent form for me."

The boss also believes that Chris Taylor might have found a new role as a centre forward when he added, "I was pleased with Taylor as a front player and I think that might be his best position. There was lots to be pleased about and a lot of promise, but I would have been happier with one or three points."
