Grounds moves on

Jonathan Grounds has left Athletic to join Birmingham City on a two year deal. The 26-year-old central defender made over 100 appearances for the club and leaves manager Lee Johnson looking for a replacement. The move didn't come unexpected to the manager who was expecting such a move to materialise.

Grounds rejoins Birmingham manager Lee Clark after playing under him on loan when he was at Norwich. Clark said of grounds, “Jonathan’s versatility is important. He can play as a left-back or left-sided centre half. We conceded far too many goals last season so it was key we strengthened our defence.”
