The Scottish F.A. have informed Athletic that defender Will Haining has been provisionally selected for their upcoming European Under 21 Championship Qualifying matches with Iceland and Lithuania. Haining has put in some good defensive performances since working his way into the team when he was called to replace the injured Clint Hill.

The first match against Iceland is at home at the Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld on 28th March and the Lithuania game is on 1st April at the Zalgiris Stadium in Vilnius. If Haining is included he will miss the home game against Port Vale. Already missing from that game could be striker Carlo Corazzin as he was selected for Canada but Chris Killen should now be available as New Zealand have been told to cancel their matches with Iran due to the impending war trouble.
