Haining for midfield?

Rumours are abounding that Will Haining may be switched from central defence to midfield for Athletic's first ever visit to Huish Park, the home of Yeovil Town. A shortage of midfielders culminated in Mark Bonner being ruled out for another three months this week. Moore has been out scouting all week and was hoping to bring in a new midfielder but it looks like that idea is a dead duck now.

Haining made two appearances in that position when Ronnie Moore first arrived at Boundary Park and Moore said, “Will didn’t particularly like playing there, but I thought he did well in the holding role and would be worth another look. Unfortunately he got injured and that was the end of it, but now I might try again. I wouldn’t be asking him to pass like a Richie Wellens type of player, just to sit in there and do a good job defensively. He’s strong in the tackle and good in the air, so it’s definitely an option I’m considering.”
