The deadline for Will to decide if he wanted to stay passed yesterday and fans were getting increasingly concerned. One rumour circulating was that rivals Wigan Athletic were attempting to sign him. Whether this is true or not is in material now.

Will now has the longest contract at the club, the only player to be contracted for three seasons. The manager Brian Talbot believes that he will benefit from a long spell here.

All the current players futures are now all resolved, time to look for players that will add to the squad. Talbot has said that pacey striker Rodney Jack will be joining the club on 1st July from Rushden & Diamonds for a nominal fee.

He has also placed a £200k bid for Peterborough United midfielder Curtis Woodhouse which has been rejected, a bid for another Peterborough United player Mark Arber is looking more promising. Mark has accepted an offer to come to Oldham and was due to have a medical tomorrow morning before joining but he is waiting for Peterborough to make another offer before he decides for certain although Oldham’s offer will be higher.

Talbot has also been quoted that he is also looking at a third division defender rumoured to be Leon Cort but may find signing him difficult with Hull City also seriously interested in him. Also the manager would like to bring in a promising young goalkeeper and another experienced striker before the start of the season.

Brian Talbot is off on his holidays tomorrow but he will still be working of sorts. He is jetting off to Portugal for EURO 2004. Being a manager certainly has its perks!
