Hall impresses

Latics boss John Sheridan is taking a long look at the progress of 19 year old Chris Hall who has scored five goals in his last two outings. Last season he was not really given a chance by ex-manager Ronnie Moore and was played in unfamiliar roles but Sheridan is giving Hall a free role and he is responding with goals. His hat-trick at Southport will make it difficult for Shez to leave him out of the starting line up when the ever drawing close season kicks off at Tranmere.

Sheridan said, "You can't argue with a record like that. It is all about confidence for strikers and anyone who shows he can score goals will always get a chance with me. He is a brave lad but he needs to know all about his positional play. He has to listen to what people are trying to tell him and if he puts himself in the right place then the easy chances will come his way. He has a chance if he keeps playing like he has been but he has to keep his feet on he floor. We are working hard to improve him as a player and the lad has to keep listening and learning."
