Hall out for season?

Ronnie Moore has admitted that he might have to change his signing priorities after finding out that Danny Hall may be out for the rest of the season. Moore said, “It leaves us a little short defensively, to say the least, and may mean I will have to bring in a defender. Danny is a brave lad who desperately wants to carry on. He has had a knee problem all season and I feel it is better to get it sorted now so it gives him longer to recuperate for the start of next season.

The official site reports that Hall has been diagnosed as suffering from Patellar Tendonitis, a serious condition which causes inflammation and degeneration of the tendon that connects the kneecap to the shin bone. It is the same problem that former Latics striker Clyde Wijnhard suffered from and is also known as 'jumper's knee', mainly because athletes that engage in running and jumping suffer from it. It is hoped that medication and rest will solve the problem so that the injury can heal with out the need for surgery.

Moore went on, “It takes so long for the bone to develop again that we're hoping that he doesn't need it. He's seeing a specialist today and he'll see another one tomorrow. It's a massive decision for a young kid. We can only guide him. If he thinks he can get away with it as some people do and we take it easy with his training methods, he can get through it. It's about how strong your pain threshold is. If the electronic treatment works then he might have a chance to play again this season. It's a major decision and because he's young, if he does have it and he comes back, he'll be OK.”
