Hands off Hall

Athletic are insisting that star defender Fitz Hall is going nowhere even though there is a line of Premiership sides keeping close tabs on the outstanding youngster. Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Blackburn, Aston Villa, Bolton and
Leeds are all in pursuit but Iain Dowie is committed to resist any temptation to cash in.

It is expected that Hall could prise a purse of £2million which would go a long way to settling Athletis’s cash crisis. Dowie said, “If I was a Premiership manager, I would definitely be interested in Fitz – he is a fantastic talent who never gets ruffled on the ball. He has done exceptionally well since he came here, but will I be able to keep hold of him? Of course I will.”

Hall is only 22 and was enticed away from non-league Chesham for a nominal fee earlier this year. Chairman Chris Moore has previously stated that he wants to keep his promising youngsters and Dowie has also been outspoken saying that he would seriously “consider his position” if he was forced to sell his young talent. Time will tell if they can keep their promises to the Latics faithful as the transfer window will soon be open.
