Hardy criticises Chronicle

Chief Executive, Alan Hardy has criticised the Oldham Chronicle for fabricating stories. The story in question was the recent transfer speculation regarding Scott Taylor.

Hardy explained to the official website, “We cannot stop the media from speculating, but for the Chronicle to blatantly publish that they understand a fee has been agreed with Taylor's club Plymouth and that the player was due at Boundary Park last weekend for talks is wide of the mark. The Chronicle should stick to the facts and not mislead people, it does the Club no favours when it publishes untruths like this. I have been bombarded with e-mails asking if Taylor had signed and I have had to tell them that the Chronicle story is not true.”

“The facts will always appear on our website if we have anything to say. If the Chronicle has asked manager Ronnie Moore if he would be interested in the player, if he was available, then the answer would obviously be yes, but to publish that they understand that a fee has been agreed with Plymouth and that the player would be at Boundary Park this weekend, has once again misled our fans. I would much rather individual players names were not mentioned as the Chronicle has linked us with numerous players over the past few weeks and it would be much better if we could do our business in private.”

“The facts are that YES, Ronnie Moore would be interested in such a player like Scott Taylor, but NO contact has been made with Plymouth Argyle regarding a transfer fee, and Scott Taylor was NOT at Boundary Park with weekend. That is the way the situation stands at the moment regarding Scott Taylor, but if we have anything further to report, then we will let our fans know.”
