Paul Heffernan has signed on loan for Athletic from Doncaster Rovers in a last minute deadline deal. The loan period will be for one month and the 27 year old striker has made just 11 appearances for Rovers so far this season, mainly as substitute. Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll doen't seem to rate the Irishman and therefore made him available for loan to help him get some first team experience.
The loss of Pawel Abbott to a complicated hernia operation has meant that the Latics goals for column has dried up. Boss Dave Penney hopes that Heffernan can provide the means to get his team back in a winning vein.
