Heffernan target for Penney

Dave Penney is in the process of trying to tempt Paul Heffernan to become a permanent fixture at Boundary Park after playing for the Latics on a loan period. The sale of Chris O'Grady to Rochdale has freed up some funds after the undiscloded fee was rumoured to be in the range up to £100,000 and Dave Penney has made enquiries to Doncaster in an attempt to lure Heffernan back.

Heffernan scored one goal in four games in his one-month loan spell and Penney believes that he would be the perfect partner for returning to action striker and leading goalscorer Pawel Abbott.
