Dean Holden spoke of his move to Peterborough United after he refused terms at Boundary Park. Posh Manager Mark Wright described Holden as a 'major coup for Peterborough United'.

Holden told the Posh website, “I came down to Peterborough and met Mark and Steve Bleasdale last week and I was very impressed with the whole structure of the football club. They want success here, I am ambitious and I want to be successful. They worked very hard to get me, there were a few other clubs interested in me, but Peterborough is the place for me. When someone like Mark Wright wants to sign you then you have to talk because he is so highly regarded in the game. He won me over and I was pleased to sign for this football club. I had a fresh offer on the table from Oldham Athletic, but I wanted a fresh start.”

“We had a bit of an up and down campaign at Oldham last season. We won a lot of matches around Christmas including the victory over Manchester City in the cup, but we struggled for the rest of the season. We had a lot of injuries, didn't have the biggest squad and ended up only narrowly avoiding the drop. It was disappointing. I just felt the time was right to move on. I want to progress as much as I can in my career and I think Mark Wright is the man to improve me as a player and get me to the level that I want to be at. I had no problems stepping down to League Two. I hope this is going to be a very short stay at this level. The way people are talking at the club they believe we are going to be successful. The squad are keen to do well and so am I. I want to show everybody what I can do.”
