Dean Holden may be returning to Boundary Park as first-team coach after Paul Murray recently left to become the manager of Hartlepool United.
Holden currently works at Walsall as a player-coach and his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Holden would be expected to be forced to take a drop in salary if he came back to the Latics.
