How the managers see the big clash

John Sheridan realises the importance of winning and is looking forward to taking another three points off table topping Nottingham Forest in the Boxing Day fixture at Boundary Park. He is also being cautious and warning his players about over confidence after the Latics beat Forest 5-0 last New Year's Day.

He told Latics World, "We've had some success against Forest, but they're one of the strongest teams in the division and we're in for a very, very hard game. I don't think it'll be anything like it was last time they were here. Hopefully we can get the three points, but we know it will be a different game. Forest will be coming here to prove a point. Each time we meet it seems to be a very important game for us. Both this season and last, we went there in a slump, or at least not winning, but got a result and always picked up afterwards. Then when they came here last season it was a top-of-the-table clash. We were on song that day and luckily they had a couple of sendings-off. They know we battered them that day and Colin Calderwood admitted as much, but I expect it to be a totally different game this time around. Both sides have different players, and they're pushing for automatic promotion and will be coming here looking to win the game."

His counterpart, Nottingham Forest boss Calderwood, has called on his side to be "disciplined and organised" ahead of the game at Boundary Park and he will be out for revenge even though the Latics have won three of the last four meetings between the two sides.

He told the official Forest website, "I sincerely hope we get some better refereeing decisions than we did on that occasion. But we have got to be professional in our approach to the game. We want to go there and be positive because we want to win the match, but we must be disciplined and organised. Oldham are in a pretty good run at the moment and after their recent results against us I am sure they will fancy the idea of beating us again."
