I don't believe it!!!

Brian Talbot has to search yet again for goalkeeping cover again, as he could nto agree terms with Kelvin Jack.

The problem appears to be that he’s too good for Oldham to sign! Talbot said that Jack was probably going to be Oldham’s second choice goalkeeper, and the Trinidadian “if we’re being honest, is a number one”, Brian says on the club’s website. “While it would be nice to have 2 ‘keepers of a number 1 standard, finances dictate things and we were unable to agree terms with Kelvin.”

So Oldham once more has to trawl the country looking for a goalkeeper. We have tried to sign Steve Corry (who preferred the longer term deal offered by Kettering), Shaun Allaway, Dino Semeret (now at Luton) and now Jack. But we have another stopper on trial. 24-year-old Danny Forde joins Latics on trial after being released by West Ham.

Now to Oldham’s injury list. Mark Bonner had a blow to the face in the 0-0 draw with Leeds Friday night. Although the midfielder was subbed at half time, he has hopefully recovered over the weekend.

And there is good news for
Wes Wilkinson. The forward could be able to return to first team training within the next week. Wes has been to Lilleshall for further treatment on his knee; the same place that Chris Killen went to recuperate earlier in the month. Hopefully the former Nantwich man should be an option up front for Talbot when Latics play Luton in 12 days time.
