Injuries clearing up (hopefully)

Les Pogliacomi has missed the last three games with a groin strain, after he was subbed in Athletic's 2-0 loss at Tranmere. He returns to training today, which was earlier than was thought by the Boundary Park Medical staff. Although the Aussie only has a slim chance of making the Brentford game he should be rearing to go for the Blackpool game on Sunday 10th October.

Pogliacomi's early return to fitness is likely to mean trialist keeper Andy Marriot will not be offered a contract. The Welshman played in Oldham Reserves' 4-2 loss on penalties to Bolton in the Manchester Senior Cup, after a 0-0 draw in normal time. Although Marriot had a decent game, as did fellow trialist David Lee, Latics do not have the wage budget available for 3 senior goalkeepers in Pogs, Mawson and Marriot.

There are a whole host of players that could well start for Athletic in the trip to Griffin Park. Mary Arber, John Eyre (both hip) and Chris Killen's hamstring all have a very good chance of being ready for duty. Mark Bonner's hamstring concern, on the other hand, will probably keep him out of Brian Talbot's plans until the match against Blackpool.

Brentford should be stiff opposition at Griffin Park, where Oldham haven't won for the last five seasons. The Bees are currently fourth in League One with 19 points from their 10 games so far. However, they did lose 3-0 to MK Dons in the LDV Vans First Round tie on Tuesday. With players of the calibre of Deon Burton and John Salako, Oldham's vulnerable looking defence with get another test at Gruffin Park tomorrow.

My Beat The Manager Prediction is Brentford 2-1 Oldham, I'm afraid to say. But no copying!
