Injury hits Latics big for Luton game

Lee Duxbury (pictured) could miss the game against Luton as his family have been hit with a virus and he is currently unable to train. Matty Appleby is another player struggling to get back to full fitness and he was pulled out of a reserve game this week.

Dowie said, “Matty will definitely be out on Saturday and, as for Lee Duxbury, we’ll just have to wait and see how he feels. He still wasn’t well yesterday, so it’s a disappointing situation going into a big game. But we’ll have to cope with it and carry on as best we can.” Other problems could be encountered in defence as both centre-backs Clint Hill and Julien Baudet are ruled out through suspension. David Beharall is not making the anticipated recovery from a calf tear and he too could be forced to miss the Luton encounter.

The manager added, “I’d say Beharall was doubtful but, on a positive note, Chris Armstrong and Dean Holden have come back well, plus Will Haining is
looking particularly good in the reserves.” Athletic are looking to stretch their unbeaten run to 10 and Luton are looking to win their fifth straight league game.
