International clearance holding up Wijnhard debut

International clearance for striker Clyde Wijnhard has still not come through from Portugal. Wijnhard was set to play against Wrexham on Tuesday after Beira Mar coach Mick Wadsworth had given his permission for him to be registered in England. If the Portugese FA do not send clearance before the end of office hours on Friday he will not play against Walsall either.

30 year old Wijnhard had a falling out with club officials and never got to work with former boss Wadsworth. Alan Hardy said, “The process began on Monday and it is normally much quicker than this. I’ve known it take no more than an hour if I’m dealing with the Scottish or Welsh FA, but we’re dealing with a foreign FA here and maybe they don’t respond as promptly.”
