News that former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been interviewed for the vacant manager’s job at Boundary Park cannot definitely be confirmed.
BBC Sport reported that the ex-England international spoke to the club purely in an advisory capacity and that he has no interest in taking on the managerial role.
Scholes is 42 and followed the Latics as a schoolboy, standing as a fan in the glory years also. He is still seen with his family at matches.
