Kalala signs

The Latics have captured another player in the guise of Jean-Paul Kalala from Yeovil. The 25 year old midfielder has signed a two year deal even though the Glovers were keen to retain his services. Kalala has been capped six times by his native Democratic Republic of Congo and originally arrived in England at Grimsby Town from Nice. JP made 26 appearances for the Mariners before moving to Yeovil Town. Kalala becomes John Sheridan's fifth signing of the summer.

JP told Latics World, "I know a bit about Oldham as I watched them in the play-offs as well as playing against them twice last season. They're a good side who deserved to be in the top six. I played at Wembley last season which was a great experience, it is a magnificent stadium. It was terrible to lose on the day, but hopefully I can now have another good season with Oldham."

"I try to work hard for the team and take care of the ball. I like to make sure I don't lose possession and get the ball back as soon as I can. I'm more of a defensive midfielder, but am happy doing the opposite if that's what I'm told to do. I know John Sheridan likes to play a passing game, and that suits me as I'm not a player who likes long balls. I spoke to the manager this morning and I love his philosophy. I think we will get on very well. I'm really looking forward to the new season. This is a new challenge, a new club and that excites me. I can't wait for the Swansea game."
