Killen avoids legal action

Chris Killen has avoided any legal action by withdrawing the comments that he previously made about the club’s owners. Former striker Killen alleged that Simon Blitz, Simon Corney and Danny Gazal had interfered with the team selection at Boundary Park but now resents that accusation and has issued an apology. Killen's actions are a result of claims that the owners would sue him for libel. Simon Corney hit back in a big way by disclosing some inside information about Killen with particular instances of unsavory incidents which occurred during his injury plagued time at the club.

Corney disclosed that Killen had cost the club £13,000 per game and £36,000 per goal before he was transferred to Hibernian on a free during the transfer window. Killen said, “A lot of stuff was going on behind the scenes down there. I was speaking to the manager before games and he was telling me he couldn’t play me because people higher up were saying ‘not this week’.” Latics manager Ronnie Moore denied that "The Three Amigos" were using him as a front puppet and Simon Corney concluded, “We have received an apology from Chris Killen and decided not to take the matter any further. We would like to draw a line under it and move on.” Killen has scored three goals in five appearances for the SPL outfit since his move.
