Killen doubtful again after injury in training

Injury prone Chris Killen has suffered more damage to his hamstring and is doubtful for the season opener at Luton. After rehabilitation and specialist training at Lilleshall all summer, and after taking part in the pre-season friendlies the injury has returned during a training session.

Brian Talbot said, “It isn’t as serious as before but there has to be a question mark over his chances of playing on Saturday. Chris still has a weakness in his hamstring and it could take three or four months to be sorted out completely. He can still play in that period because, thankfully, we’ve now identified the problem and we know how to solve it. I haven’t ruled him out of the Luton game yet but the injuries he picks up are an accumulation of past problems. He is bound to need time.”

Danny Hall and Wes Wilkinson have returned to full training after both suffering knee injuries and should make their comebacks in the reserves. If all goes to plan they should be ready for the first team in a couple of weeks. It is hoped that John Eyre will get over his groin strain and be able to start the game at Luton.
