Lee Hughes (pictured) scored his 17th. goal of the season to put Athletic ahead in their Roses battle with leeds United. The goal came in the 51st. minute but Leeds were level within the space of two minutes after Becchio headed in a corner kick. Latics boss John Sheridan was pleased with the result which was fair on the balance of play.

He told the official Latics website, "I'm happy with the result and I think it was a fair one in the end. Both teams battled and it was a typical derby in terms of work rate and effort - both of those were there throughout. If we'd have done that I think we might have seen a totally different game but Greg Fleming made a good save towards the end and a point is fair overall. There was an excellent atmosphere in the ground tonight and the fans got right behind us. Even though it isn't the win we wanted, this result could turn out to be a good one going forward. I'd have settled for that before the Millwall game, and now we must kick on and try and get three more points on Saturday."
