Latics check on Cummins

The Latics are rumoured to be making an offer to Port Vale for midfield player Michael Cummins. Port Vale have played the 27 year old out wide but he prefers to play in the middle, a position that Ronnie Moore sees him filling.

Moore said, "Cummins is someone I've been interested in for a while, so hopefully we can make a bit of progress. I've spoken to his agent and I know what we can offer, although there's a contract on the table from Port Vale."

Moore is conscious of the fact that he will need to offload players if he is bring in new faces. Meanwhile central defender Guy Branston has not yet signed the contract that is on offer at Boundary Park and is currently free to speak with other clubs.
