Latics come unstuck

The Latics came unstuck at home to Bristol City in the big 3rd. v 4th. clash in League One. Bristol found the going just too easy as the home side offered no resistance and the visitors had no trouble winning 3-0 and walking away with all three points. It could have been more too as they had a penalty well saved by Les Pogliacomi (pictured) and they missed other chances to make it even more embarrassing for John Sheridan's men. Old boy Wayne Andrews, making his debut for Bristol, hammered the final nail in the coffin with the third goal.

A disappointed Sheridan told the official website, "I'll hold my hands up and say we didn't deserve anything. Other than the first ten to fifteen minutes, where I thought we were quite bright, Bristol dominated and thoroughly deserved the result. I stressed to the lads that this was an important game, and they're bitterly disappointed about it in the dressing room. There's no doubt that this was a bad day at the office."

"Today is the second time we deserved to lose this season, with the first being at Chesterfield. We deserved to get something from every other game, but I'll hold my hands up today and say that I know this is a bad day. It's now important that we show character and get back to winning ways. There were lots of things wrong in our play today, but I've told the lads to keep their heads up and we'll have a little chat about it on Monday."
