Latics cruise into round three

The Latics cruised into the third round of the FA Cup with a convincing win over Crewe Alexandra. The 1-0 scoreline did not tell the true story, as a determined effort from the Latics should have brought more reward.

The Railwaymen could not have complained had they lost by 5-0. Crewe only had one good chance after a misunderstanding by the two central defenders but the effort was fluffed. The defence then shut up shop and the result was never in doubt.

Lee Hughes got the all important goal with a great volley from a Kilkenny feed. The draw for round three takes place tomorrow and the Latics are hoping for a plum tie to ensure a bumper payout.
