Latics deny any involvement over McMahon debacle

The Latics are denying any involvement with the strange goings on at Blackpool this week after Steve McMahon made a dramatic turn around after he had handed in his resignation at Bloomfield Road.

New Latics buyer Simon Corney said, “It’s nothing to do with us. We would certainly consider Steve McMahon if he was available but we were as surprised as anybody by what happened yesterday. It wasn’t connected with us looking for a new manager and, in fact, we’ve already arranged interviews with three other people.”

As the former England man is under contract, the Latics would be hit with a compensation payment to Blackpool if they were to take him on board.
