Latics eek out another point

The Latics eeked out another point on their path to salvation on their first ever trip to new team Franchise FC. Luke Beckett (pictured) put the visitors in front in only 5 minutes when he slotted home a through ball from Neil Kilkenny. It was an end to end battle with both teams missing chances, Killen and Beckett in particular spurning efforts. Franchise did get the ball in the net in the 25th. minute but it was pulled back for an infringement. The Latics held on until the 84th. minute but unfortunately Edds scrapped out a goalmouth battle and gave the home side what was, on chances, probably deserved even though it was disappointing for the fans who swallowed their pride and paid to watch the contest.

Ronnie Moore told the official website, “If people think we're going to play lovely attractive football, it won't happen. It may happen when we get to 50 points and then you can relax a bit and get on with it, but this present time it's roll your sleeves up and how much effort can you give. On the day, a draw was probably a fair result. At least we haven't lost the game. I think it's 11 games for them undefeated and and it's another one for us, undefeated."

"We had one lapse, really. We dealt with nearly everything he put in there. Platt is strong in the air and can cause you one or two problems. It's just a pity because it was a scrappy, horrible goal. If they'd have waltzed past somebody and rifled it into the top corner then maybe we could have lived with it. But it's just the way that we gave away the sloppy goal. A win would have put us five points clear of them and over that finishing line. But we still need one win now to get to that 50 points.”
