Latics fan cleared

Chief Executive Alan Hardy (pictured) has issued a response from the Colchester United safety officer following the ejction of a Latics fan at the recent game in Colchester. He promised to keep the fans up to date with any further progress on the incident and as a result the Latics fan concerned has now been told that there will be no record of the incident kept on file. Colchester's safety officer informed Mr. Hardy as follows,

Dear Alan,
Sorry it's taken a long time to look into this incident. We have come to the conclusion that it was right to eject the Oldham supporter. As he was being led out of the seated area, Oldham scored and all confusion took place regarding pushing and shoving. My steward who ejected the young lad was probably over the top, which caused a reaction from your supporters. Therefore after speaking to the stewards involved and looking at CCTV, I have made the decision and a certain steward is no longer working at Colchester United Football Club.

We will be looking at our training providers to see why this situation arose. I greatly regret that this incident took place and on behalf of Colchester United Football Club and my stewards, I can assure you that this won't happen again. Hope this is to your satisfaction. Kind regards,
Gary Tuckwell, Safety Officer.
