The Blackpool Gazette reveals that Athletic are in the race to sign defender Robbie Williams who was on loan to Blackpool from Barnsley. Williams was the player who scored the first goal in the Seasiders' play off final triumph against Yeovil Town at Wembley and they are keen to keep him at Bloomfield Road. Scunthorpe are also in the running for the left back free kick specialist but he may yet stay at Barnsley. The Irons have sold 32 goal top scorer Billy Sharp to Sheffield United and have transfer money to play with.
