Latics old boys gather in numbers

Farsley Celtic are now beginning to resemble Oldham Athletic old boys. Former Latics player and manager Lee Sinnott has turned to another of his former playing colleagues Carl Serrant to strengthen the Celts. Serrant, like Sinnott, an England Under 21 International, was at Oldham Athletic with the Farsley manager in the mid nineties before Newcastle United paid £500,000 for him in the summer of 1998. Still not yet thirty Serrant also won England "B" honours and has been signed from Droylsden. The Leeds based player, however, was finding the travelling over to the Manchester area difficult to fit in around his University studies and has been released from his contract with the "Bloods".

Sinnott has recently also signed Lee Duxbury (pictured) who played alongside him at Oldham. Duxbury made over 250 appearances for both Bradford City and the Latics. During the close season Sinnott had also persuaded a fourth Oldham old boy to join his revolution at Celtic signing Paul Rickers, yet another with over 250 games under his belt with Oldham. The 29 year old, however, badly broke an arm in only the second match of the season but is expected back in action soon. He resumed training this week and Sinnott is looking to give him a run out in one of Celtic's forthcoming cup-ties. Andy Woods in goal was also on Athletic’s books so it’s no wonder that Latics fans could be fooled into thinking that they have another reserve team!
