Latics put in convincing performance

John Sheridan happily watched his team brush aside any threat from local rivals Huddersfield Town and he saw his players put in a convincing performance in a 4-1 win. Jason Jarrett got two and missed a chance of a hat-trick with a penalty miss. Leon Constantine and Chris Taylor bagged the other goals as the Latics made it look easy.

Shez told Latics World, "It was an excellent performance from start to finish. We dominated the game and should have scored more. I had a couple of decisions to make bearing in mind the personnel we have at the moment and we looked good. The only disappointing thing was Huddersfield's consolation at the end because I don't think we deserved to concede a goal today. Our tempo was very good and we created lots of chances, so full credit to the lads because we showed we're a decent team."

"We had some excellent performances out there today. Jason was superb, as were Mark Allott and Dave Livermore who played the ball and kept things simple in midfield. Jason was excellent for us and I'm disappointed he didn't get his hat-trick today because I think he deserved it. He caused problems for the opposition during the Doncaster game and he got his chance today. I was tempted to play Chris Taylor inside and move Dave Livermore out to the left-hand side, but I kept Chris out there because he gives us that balance."

"Jason slotted in there and fortunately for me it worked. We created some great opportunities and could easily have scored six or seven goals. A top manager said only this morning that it's all about consistency. If the players are consistent then they will either move on to a higher level or go there with Oldham and I'll continue to preach that."
