The Latics put in a resounding performance at Doncaster Rovers yesterday to claim their first win of the season. Manager Lee Johnson heaped praise on his team after Jonson Clarke-Harris and a penalty from Jonathan Forte made sure that the visitors returned with maximum points. The visitors totally dominated the game amd could have score several more goals with a little more luck.

A delighted boss commented, “I'm super happy. I'm pleased for the lads because we've had a tough time recently. I thought we were excellent last week and I thought second half we were magnificent and we should have won by five. We've got our first win of the season now and it's time for us to kick on in the league which I know we can. The lads were fantastic and credit to them. We've done a lot of hard work on the training ground this week and the stuff that we have been doing will remain a secret but they put it into practise and I'm delighted. I thought everybody was very good. It does take time to bed in principals to a new group and it's about time we kick on from this. Doncaster are a good side with good players and we nullified all their threats.”

About the goals he said, “They are the goals we want him to score because he's got in the right area. He was brave and we got a bit of luck so I'm happy for Jonno. Forte should have had more but he's got to make sure to stick them in as he would have gone top scorer in the division had he scored. He's struggling through it at the moment though as he's not training much and just coming in for games but he's nice and effective. There was a lot of passion at the end. The supporters were magnificent because they did not stop singing all game. We won the game on the pitch and they won the game in the stands.”
