Athletic have signed 25 year old Stefan Stam who will remain at Boundary Park until the end of the season. Stam is a giant 6'-2" central defender or left back and joined the Latics ranks last week on trial. He started his career at AZ Alkmaar amd later moved to PSV Eindhoven where he played in the same reserve team as Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He has represented the Dutch at Under 16, Under 18, Under 20 and Under 21 level. He will play in the reserves fixture at Stockport tonight and told the official website, “I'm playing for the reserves so I hope I can convince them to let me play Saturday. If I like it, I want to stay and if they like me, I hope they will sign me for a longer time.”
