Liverpool's Spanish starlet Miquel Roque has signed on a season long loan. The 18 year old can operate in both central defence or midfield and is highly rated by Rafa Benitez. He scored in last seasons 3-2 aggregate FA Youth Cup Final success over Manchester City in the Final and has made one senior appearance this season when he came on as a substitute during Liverpool's Champions' League clash with Galatasaray.

Miquel (Miki) is relishing his chance to play for the Latics and he told the official site, "I actually knew about this move last week. I was playing for the under 19's in Portugal, and Rafa contacted me and said that a club was interested, and that it would be a good experience for me. To be fair I didn't know much about anything outside the Premiership when I came to England, but now I've heard a lot about how competitive and physical the Football League is. I had my first training session today and really enjoyed it. John Sheridan is a good guy and my new team-mates were all very helpful, there's a great atmosphere around the place."

"Making my debut in the Champions' League at only 18 was great, as not many players get to play in that competition. It was really special playing in the stadium where Liverpool won that crazy final in 2005! You pick up bits from different players when you're playing and training with them, I don't focus on one in particular. We have some very experienced players such as Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard, while I also look at the Spanish players."

"Obviously the main goal is promotion. We're fifth at the moment so we've got to keep ourselves there. To be involved with a team that's in with a chance of going up is great, and Oldham have been a great club over the years so it would be nice to see them in the Championship and on the way back up."

It's refreshing to hear that he has fit in so well and is already saying "WE" in regards to his new team. Miki will go straight into the Latics' squad for Sunday's game at Brentford.
