Football League World has reported that the Latics are considering a move to sign free agents Chris McCann and Billy Clarke.
Midfielder McCann has played for Burnley and Wigan Athletic but has been without a club since leaving MLS side DC United in July. Clarke left Bradford City following their relegation to League Two at the end of last season and has been training with Bolton Wanderers.
Both players have been involved in a behind closed doors match as they look to impress the club.
