Latics walk it

The Latics breezed past a poor Yeovil side and comfortably dispensed them with a three goal salvo which could have easily been more. Gary McDonald opened the scoring and an own goal by Lee Peltier and an easy tap in by Craig Davies (pictured) completed the rout which was Latics' third consecutive home victory.

Manager John Sheridan told Latics World, "It was a convincing win. I wouldn't say we played great, but we were very solid as a team and the most important thing is we got the first goal. That gave us the belief we could go on and win the game, and we were solid throughout. They only had one real chance, and even that was a bit disappointing because it came from our corner. But Mark Crossley's made a good save and things like that can change games, although really we were in control throughout. We looked comfortable, and to win 3-0 is very pleasing."

"It was good play from Lewis Alessandra for the second goal. He's put a ball into the danger area that's awkward to deal with. Even if their lad hadn't headed it in I think Craig Davies would've because he was right there. The third came from good football too. Deane Smalley's showed great awareness and picked out Craig at the back post. Craig had one of his better games today. I think he might have started listening to me! I've made it clear what we've got to do, and we've caught one or two teams up today. When you look at the table you think 'yeah, we're in with a chance'. But we don't want to win one and then lose one. We need to win two, three or four consecutive games if we can to push people who are up at the top. It's important we just concentrate on ourselves and win as many games as we can."
