Lee signs for Latics

David Lee has signed on non-contract terms, and will be released by Talbot next week if he does not do any more to impress the Latics manager. Talbot thought Lee was "average" when he appeared for Oldham Reserves in their Manchester Senior League Cup defeat at the hands of Bolton, but "he asked to stay on another week and I'm giving him chance. He'll need to do better in the next reserve game otherwise I will release him from the club."

Oldham's midfield injury crisis means that Lee has gone straight into the squad for the Brentford match tomorrow. As Talbot concedes, he only has "one central midfielder fit" in Danny Boshell.

Mark Bonner and Danny Hall (throat infection) will definitely not play. Matty Appleby is still trying to regain full fitness after a career-threatening hip injury. Craig Mawson will still continue in goal despite Big Les's addition to the squad. As Athletic have problems in defence (Hall and Dave Beherall are both out) Mark Arber has "got to play" according to Brian, even though a calf knock has prevented him from training all week.

Hopefully I will be reporting on a Latics victory rather than more injuries after tomorrow!
