JW Lees & Co. have agreed to the sale of the Clayton Arms to the club. The purchase will be a major boost for Athletics plans to redevelop Boundary Park. The purchase is to take place later in the year which will allow the pub to honour their existing bookings.

Director Ian Hill said of the move, "For some time now we have been in discussion with the brewery regarding the acquisition of the Clayton Arms, and their positive support has now given us the opportunity to move forward with the re-development of Boundary Park."

William Lees-Jones, Managing Director of JW Lees, commented, "We purchased The Clayton Arms and Sports Hall from Oldham Athletic in 1982 when the club needed money and now 25 years later we are delighted to sell them back to the club to help them in their plans to redevelop the stadium at Boundary Park. JW Lees is 100% behind Latics and we hope that the club builds on its current success and creates a lasting sporting success story in the town."
